How to choose bathroom art

How to choose bathroom art

Your bathroom is a place for relaxation and rejuvenation. A place you can spend time away from the worries of the world, work and daily life.

You should be able to immediately feel at home in this room, so it’s important to choose bathroom wall art that will enhance your enjoyment of the space and enable feelings of serenity, happiness and relaxation.

Consider carefully what style of bathroom art you want to gaze at while you soak in the bath tub or clean your teeth. How do you want that art to make you feel? Look at what style and colours the bathroom already has, which you could tie into.

This bathroom below is quite organic and spa-like, which brings a sense of the outdoors inside. This is very much a bathroom trend for 2022. Our green abstract art print is very contemporary, so works well and brings a splash of natural green colour into the space, along with the plants.

If your bathroom has white walls, or very modern black walls, and black fittings (matt black bathroom fittings and accessories are also on trend this year) you may want to hang some monochrome art in black and white, or perhaps some black-and-white photography.

Our All the Eights pink typography print is modern and fun, and works perfectly with this striking black, white and wood bathroom.

Alternatively, if you fancy having a splash of bold colour and lots of layered details to enjoy while you wallow in bubble bath, then a colourful abstract landscape painting or an abstract art print could be just what you need to hang on your bathroom wall.

This blue original abstract painting (called Iris, and available from my other website originalabstractpaintings.com) gives a gorgeous pop of colour to this light, bright, and very white bathroom.

Just a little note (with my artist hat on): it is worth pointing out that it is not advisable to hang original paintings in a steamy environments as they will be at risk of damage. Steam, and water droplets and marks are detrimental to most types of art. So your best bet is to choose art prints, and frame them behind glass, ensuring that the frame is sealed as well as possible.

No matter which genre of bathroom wall art you choose, make sure it feels like part of your bath and body routine. Something you visually enjoy as much as the feel of your body lotions and facial creams, or the scents of your perfumes.

Art should be chosen and framed to catch the eye, to invite you to pause and take a second look. Opt for a vintage frame or contemporary framing depending on the style of your bathroom. Consider options such as botanical art, photography or even textile art.

You will feel most comfortable and relaxed when the art feels like it belongs in the space. The right art will contribute to you feeling good while you get ready to face your day or prepare for a relaxing night’s sleep.

A bathroom is like an oasis. It’s a place to relax after a long day, and let your hair down. By choosing art that speaks to you, you can make this space even more special by adding personality and visual fulfilment into the mix.
